N.A.V.

Chapter One

The news reporter nervously reached for a glass of water while the camera guy got his equipment set up.

"What's wrong?" the young man asked.

"Oh, n-nothing at all. It's just that this is my first interview with a big star such as you."

"New guy, eh? I get those types all of the time." The young man watched as the reporter kept shifting his legs to try and get comfortable. "Hey man, relax. I'm only a person." The young man smiled.

"O-Okay." The reporter's hands were shaking uncontrollably. The camera guy pointed at him, signaling that the camera was rolling. "First off, what are the names of the group members again?"

"Well, I am the leader, Jeff, and the other members are Brandon, Josh, Amy, Jessica, and Sophie. 3 guys, 3 girls." Jeff snickered. "You don't know how many times I have to repeat the names of the group members to people."

The reporter laughed nervously. "That's funny. Anyways, I just wanted to talk about the type of music you guys put out. You seem to record a lot of different genres. Would you agree?"

"We just make music that people want to hear. Rap, rock, dance, just whatever. But I do agree that it would be hard to classify us under one specific genre."

"Interesting. Before I go on, how long have you guys been in the business?"

"Good to see you finally relaxing. To answer your question, 5 years. We broke in when we were all about 18 years of age."

"It's funny, none of the members look any older at all."

"Heh, I guess we could say that the blood of youth runs rampant through our veins." Jeff smiled.

"Your latest album, simply titled 'N', broke sales records all around the WORLD."

"I guess we're just too damned good." Jeff and the reporter laughed.

"I emphasize the word 'world' because your music appeals to people of a lot more countries than just the U.S.A."

"Well, why make music if only a certain group of people will enjoy it? If someone records an album, everyone around the world should be able to like it."

"Good point." The reporter sipped his water. "I guess that would have also have to do with the diversity of your group members as well."

"Yep, two Caucasians, me and Sophie, two African Americans, Brandon and Amy, a Japanese, Jessica, and an Italian, Josh. Can't get much more diverse than that."

"Something else I found interesting was that none of the members have any siblings."

Jeff shrugged. "Oh well, no loss, I guess."

"What about the parents? I don't believe I know the names of your parents."

Jeff sighed. "Well, I would prefer not to talk about them. They left me a long time ago, and I don't know what's up with them nowadays."

"Oh, sorry, I didn't..."

"Don't worry about it, it's no biggy." Jeff snickered under his breath.

"So where do you, and the other members, reside at this time?"

"Heh, nowhere. We travel the world, making music. That's about it."

"Interesting. What does N.A.V. stand for?"

"We've never told anyone that before. Why do you think I would tell you?"

"Well, I tried." The reporter looked back. The camera guy pointed at his watch. "Crap, only about a minute left."

Ask anything you please." Jeff crossed his left leg over his right.

"Alright. This might seem a little personal, but... is it true about the sexual situation of the group members?"

Jeff broke out in uncontrollable laughter. He laughed so hard that he almost started crying. "Sexual situation? That's a funny way of wording it. I think I know what you are getting at, though. Yes, all six of us are virgins." Jeff was still laughing.

"I guess it was a weird way to word it. But I just find it interesting, with your unbelievable popularity." It was time for the reporter to leave. "Thank you for the interview, Jeff."

"No problem, man. I love these things."

Jeff watched as the reporter and camera man clumsily gathered their equipment and left the young star's house. He couldn't help but laugh. People like that were so funny. As Jeff walked back to his room to read in peace, he heard a knock on the door.

"Damn, did they forget something?"

He walked slowly to the door, opened it, looked at the silhouetted figure, and adjusted his eyes accordingly. It was Brandon.

"Hey man! Didn't expect you at this time of night!" Jeff said.

"I watched the entire interview through your window." Brandon smiled. "You are such a bitch."

They both laughed like good friends. "Well, he would have been way too easy, man. Now come on in, sit down, and have a drink."
