File Transfer

I've tried burning discs and transfer cables, and neither worked. What are some other ways to send large (I mean LARGE) files?

The fastest way, seriously fastest way if you're computer inclined is to just put the other HDD into the other computer and then transfer it within the other computer's OS. You prolly can't do that. The best you could do would be setting up a network between two computers. Either that OR a usb transfer cable, but you should get a faster speed as long as both computers have fast network access (such as gigabit ethernet).

Right now I've been uploading my files in zipped form to free file sending sites, then downloading them on the new computer. It's obviously taking a while.

Yoshi55 Not Gay Joined: 25 Mar 2006 Posts: 4958 Location: The Death Star	I transferred files with a CD, but I don't recommend it, because it might take too many CDs. And especially don't use 5 inch floppy disks, because unused ones are worth money and they don't have that much space.

HA, sorry yoshi but this is the first one that was funny for the Forum's Jackass... Lisker, the fastest way is the way that won't help you. Unplug the hardrive from one computer and plug it into the other one... Fastest way (except you'll have to reconfigure drivers) however unsarcastically the other fastest way is taking your other hardrive and setting it as slave and copy what you need, but that also depends on what kind of os system you are using. (You can get an external hardrive case that connects to a computer through USB, but you pretty much need WinXP and up to do any of the newer things. But yeah hard drive to hardrive is the best bet. If you have the tech knowledge for it. Damn I wanted to give you the name of this product I have but I just realized that it's a pirate copy from China so I have no clue where you can find it... The title on the box is "SATA & IDE 3.5" Hard Drive to USB2.0 Aluminum Combo Enclosure" there is a picture on this site, might not be a pirate after all? I'm going to assume a few things You either have WinXP or VIsta on the drive you want to transfer to, and you have Win2000 or Xp on the older drive. As long as you are still working on NTFS (32-bit... I can't tell you what would happen if you had a 64-bit thing, and it can get complicated if your going from IDE to Sata) Anyways if your using IDE it's easy, plug as slave.
