Shut up, actor on broadway. Only actors on Broadway that like Halo and Macintoshes hate SMB3. You are an actor on broadway, because SMB3 kicks every other game in EXISTANCE's ass. So don't be an actor on broadway.

I'd also like to note that I feel that people who cry or get anxious over game storylines seem to be a bit touched. It's a game. Get over it.

Editor's Note: I have no idea why this user came out of nowhere with this statement because that part of the discussion had been dropped long ago. Seemed like a desperate last-ditch effort to "win" the argument even though it was over and Forum Jackass had dropped it.

Earlier in the topic he and Jackass were arguing about what is and isn't art. Jackass was trying to get across that art is something that can make you feel emotions. Eggman's argument was basically that art is "deep, has layers, and takes a lot of effort", (which he never elaborates on), but apparently if you feel emotional about it at all, according to his logic, it's not art, you're just "touched" (whatever that means).

I should note it's not so much his definition of art that I have a problem with - it's just that he's one of these types of people (*cough*Roger Ebert*cough*) who defines art in such a way that ONLY what he likes could possibly be considered art, and if someone thinks something else can be art (like, oh, gameplay and level design) he'll argue into the wind that it isn't because it doesn't fit his specific defition, and he keeps arguing despite ANY huge gaping flaws in his logic that are brought to his attention AND despite that he never elaborates on what he means by "deep", and implies that he doesn't have to because if you don't understand it, then you're just stupid.

So here was Forum Jackass's response, using his own logic against him (sorry, Homogroxxual, but it's about to get worse...)

The shit I took this morning is art because it's deep and has many layers. It took a lot of effort to make it and most people are too dumb to understand how intricate it is. It also has many layers like an onion, and it smells bad like an onion, too.

See what I mean? You just don't understand it because of how deep it is. I had to carefully regulate my diet over a course of two months to make sure I achieved the perfect level and balance of moisture, texture, and lumpiness. Also, when I had to go, I had to make sure only to excrete just the right amount so that some could stay in my intestines and solidify into part of my epic masterpiece. I also had to divide my dietary intake up by color and eat the appropriate amount of each to produce just the right combination of green and brown upon release. Because, you see, the brown represents America as its social and political structure slowly wane into an advanced state of decadence. The green represents the New World Order that is creeping up on the horizon. I also had to ingest the right amount of corn so that there'd be one representing each of the 12 Apostles, and if I accidentally excreted too many, I'd have to either eat more or shove some back up.

I also had to carefully move my buttocks in a circular motion to form the shape of the final product, which required an unprecedented amount of control and self-discipline.

Just because he's black that means we can't beat him up? I thought we were pushing towards racial equality in this country.

Maybe I should take a dump about that, too...

Except for homosexuals, he wants nothing equal for them! Sort of how Hitler condemned the Jews while having Jewish ancestry himself.

Jeez, slow down, guys. I can only cram so much symbolism into one bowel movement. The really tricky part is getting it to turn about 1/3 white and a 1/3 yellow. Yellow's not too hard to achieve and if I urinate at the same time that should cover it, but white's a little tougher to pull off...

How do you get white? White corn? Bleach? Damn you artists are so mysterious!

Marshmallow, kid. Lots and lots of marshmallow.

But just be careful if you try it at home. When amateurs overdo it, they have a tendency to fart out a giant marshmallow balloon. Of course, if you ever find yourself falling from a high place without a parachute, it can come in handy.

Then again, you people have had so many things go in and out of your asses, you'd probably be experts with the marshballoon.

And thus ends the Tales of the Forum Jackass.

It's not that Roger Ebert doesn't think games can be art that bothers me. I personally could care less what a movie critic who doesn't play games thinks of them, no matter how how-profile he is. My problem with his definition of "art" is that it could only possibly apply to movies, which is enormously offensive to me and should be offensive to more people than just gamers. By his definitions, few paintings or sculptures (if any) could be considered art, and neither could music.

Likewise, it's not really someone thinking Killer7 is art that bothers me, either. I personally do not care much for that game, but that's beside the point. It's when someone says that Killer7 is the ONLY game that is art because it's the ONLY game that has a good story that I find it offensive. What's even more offensive is that if you counter that by saying something like, "What about Final Fantasy 4? Or Kartia? They have fully-realized stories with deep characters and themes", and you're likely to get a response of, "Ha ha! You're just an RPG fag who's touched!"

Call me touched, but this is why I think teenage boys on message boards and fat movie critics whose writing has gone way past its prime shouldn't be allowed to make statements on what is and isn't art.
